Hudson have turned to the daughter of Mick Jagger and the face of the brand, Georgia-May Jagger, and come out with a new line. Georgia-May will be designing her own collection for the brand called ‘Hudson by Georgia-May Jagger’. The new collection will be launching in Spring/Summer 2011 and will be a collaboration between Hudson’s Head Designer and Creative Director, Benjamin Taverniti and the effortlessly stylish British model, Georgia-May.
The collection is infused with the sexy insouciance of rock n roll chic. Inspired by the rebellious soul of London and the ease and freedom of California, the jeans are instantly iconic. Among Jagger’s inspirations were her mother’s vintage Wrangler jeans as well as rock icons, Guns & Roses. The capsule features five styles including the N.0 Slash, N.1 Axl, N.2 Guns, N.3 Georgia- ÔÇÉMay, and N.4 Ayesha and in black, white, grey and blue washes, all in skinny leg openings for the rock n roll edge but a midrise to accommodate a wider range of body types.
Georgia did sketches and inspiration images and oversaw all elements of the capsule including materials, fit, wash, rise and inseam length, and pocket and trim details.
“My collection has a whole new cut, they are based on the style of jeans my mum wore in Texas in the 70’s. They are not high- waisted but they are a mid- rise which is great for us shorter girls and also very flatering on the hips and bum. We also are using new kinds of stretch denim fabrics exclusively developed for us which make them very comfortable. It was also really important that they be from a woman’s point of view so I asked all sorts of women – my mom and friends and family – for their input,” says Georgia.
“We are thrilled that Georgia wanted to play a design roll, in additon to being the face of the brand for the past three seasons,” says Hudson’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Kim, “She is a natural fit for us, being the daughter of a British rock star and an American supermodel, given with our Union Jack logo and L.A roots.”
The Hudson by Georgia-May Jagger collection will be sold in leading department and specialty stores domestically and internationally. It will also be sold online at HudsonJeans.com/GMJ from March 2011. How exciting! We also got the chance to ask Georgia about the collection ourselves. She seems very sweet!
DB: How would you describe the vibe of your line?
Georgia: Firstly can I say I love that you used the word vibe. Amazing. The vibe is sexy yet comfortable, a bit of rock and roll and a bit of cowgirl. I think there is a pair for everyone, each style comes in several colors ranging from bright white and blue, to grey and black.
