DenimBlog Exclusive: Interview With Pray For Mother Nature

We got the chance to catch up with Chip, the co-founder of Pray For Mother Nature. Chip owns this denim brand along with his wife, Nicole. We spoke to them about how they got started, what inspired them, where the brand name came from and more. Check out the interview below to find out more about the brand. I love what it stands for! What do you think of the brand?

DB: What inspiration goes into designing a pair of your jeans?
Hiking through old mining caves/tunnels in Colorado and Canada.

DB: What is your collection about?
We wanted to make a RTW collection of basic essentials all in a super luxe denim. The vibe was to create a collection that was ageless and timeless out of everybody’s favorite fabric… denim!

DB: Why did you decide to create your brand?
When I was in Japan I went to the Japanese fish market and I saw all the tuna stacked up and I wanted to “Pray for Mother Nature” right then and there.

DB: Do you have a favorite cut you have designed?
Yeah we’re launching, Pray for Mother Nature Men’s and I love the skinny cargo’s and chinos, in deluxe, sick twill fabric.

DB: How many jeans do you own yourself?
3 pairs. A skinny, a skinny, and a skinny with holes.

DB: Which jean has been the most popular overall?
They’re all popular, but probably our Jessie Spano, it’s a low rise flare, that looks amazing on the bum.

DB: We all love denim, but what makes it so important to you?
Because they’re durable, and dirty cool.

DB: What makes your brand so different from the others out there?
This brand is denim with a cause. We are very concerned with environmental awareness, and giving back to nature.

DB: What is the best feature of your jeans?
I always push for practicality in my designs, so for our targeted demographic we use a fit model that has a real body. I think because of that you don’t get the typical 6 foot legs and muffin top like the other brands. Our jeans are super flattering even if your not a supermodel.

DB: How did you come up with the name Pray For Mother Nature?
My wife Nicole, literally said, “we have to pray for mother nature”, when we saw the tuna, and I thought it was amazing!

DB: A couple of celebs have been seen in your brand, do you have a favorite?
I love em all, but I think Vanessa Hudgens has really hooked up style.

DB: What’s next for Pray For Mother Nature?
Well like I said before we are launching a men’s collection for fall 2011, and we are introducing new fabrics for women’s for fall, like recycled leather and new original wovens to mix back to the denim.

DB: Do you predict any new trends for denim in the coming season?
The 70’s are coming back in a big way.
