How To Wear Your Skinny Cargos For Fall

The skinny cargo pant trend that took the world by storm back in Spring of this year doesn’t just have to stay there! You can easily wear your cargo pants through Fall and Winter. I definitely will be! All you need to do is know how to pair them with the right items of clothing. I think the J Brand Houlihan pants will be perfect for the colder weather as they are thicker, a lot of the cargo pants for Spring were very thin. I know the denim brands will be bringing out Winter versions of their cargos though so don’t worry too much!

So, to start with, you need to ditch the wedges and sandals and opt for a pair of cute boots that will match the colour and style of your chosen cargos. Preferably go for something a little more casual, definitely don’t go for a smart boot. It would be good to choose a pair of boots that are a similar colour as well, try to stay on trend with the army tones that cargos are known for; greens, browns, blacks and beige. I saw a pair of boots from Topshop a while back, they were lace up canvas and had a wedge on them, they would be perfect for the cargo trend!

Now for the top half of your body, definitely ditch the tees and tanks as it’s going to be much too cold for that. Instead, choose a looser fitting sweater, something that has that LnA vibe to it. A plain coloured sweater in a different colour to your cargos will look great with the boots. It will keep the main focus on the pants which is what you want. Jackets are also a Fall essential so pairing them with a casual jacket, perhaps one with a few buttons on it, would look good as well. Again, try to keep it a different colour so you are not matchy matchy! I also find that if you want to try to make your cargos a little more feminine then you could try adding a subtle floral top with a plain cardigan and perhaps a small scarf as well. I think that would look really cute.

You will need to experiment with all of these options and figure out which best suits your style the most and which suits your shape. As with most trends, you need to wear them well, just because a certain outfit looked good on someone else, doesn’t mean it will look good on you too if you have a completely different body shape. I like to look at the celebrities and see the big differences. Take Rihanna for example, she looks great when she is dressed as casual as can be, she can work that trend, but if you look at Jessica Alba, she’s a lot more feminine and looks best when she makes the outfit more girly.
