PRPS & START Boutique Collaboration

Brix Smith Start joined the legendary British band The Fall in 1983 as a guitarist/singer/songwriter. She recorded and released numerous albums with The Fall and left for good back in 1996. She went on to release 2 solo albums under the name Adult Net in the years following The Fall. Brix has since gone on to pursue a career in acting, presenting and most notably, in fashion.
Having launched her first boutique START with her husband Philip Start in 2002, they have since pretty much taken over Rivington Street in East London, with 4 boutiques and an online store! The START stores are A-list boutiques, and are considered to be amongst the best stores in the world. Brix is one of the most recognized faces in fashion and is now working on multiple TV projects. She has most recently completed her second series on Gok’s Fashion Fix (Channel 4) as Gok’s rival stylist.
She is a series regular on Top Dog (Animal Planet), and has also appeared on The Culture Show (BBC TV), Tough Gig (ITV), John Peels Record Box (Channel 4), presented a weekly item ‘What’s Hot and What’s Not’ on LK Today (ITV) and appeared as a fashion expert on Style On Trial (BBC) to name but a few!

“I’ve studied and been aware of almost every denim label on the planet and Prps is simply the best, the coolest, the Rolls Royce of denim. When they asked me to collaborate with them I screaming at the top of my lungs with excitement. And thus, Prps Heart Start was born.” Said Brix Smith from START.

“If you know Prps, a sculpture in fading is often incorporated onto the back pocket, such as for the men’s, a tin of tobacco or a wallet – it looks like the wallet’s been there for ten years and worn into the back pocket. So I decided to put a studded heart in the back pocket, have it sanded and faded and remove the studs, as to leave a ghosting of the studded heart. And because studs are a big trend for this entire year, I decided to encrust the top entry-way of the front pocket with tactile, flattened studs, almost like a little hip armour.

Then we went further, by taking their buttery soft cropped black biker jacket and encrusting a studded heard on the back. Prps Heart Start… get it?! I mean I just wanted to take what Prps did best, their unique selling points, and just tweak them with the heart. I wanted to take what they were good at and personalise it without changing the essence of their design.”
