Denim Blues: Saks Fifth Avenue drops dVb

While celebrities frequently find themselves at the center of controversy, it seems their clothing labels do too. dVb, Victoria Beckham’s luxury denim line has been dropped from Saks Fifth Avenue. Although there still seem to be dVb jeans on Sak’s website, apparently Saks has decided not to re-order any more dVb denim and the shelves are being cleared of it. Rumor has it that this drop is the result of discourse between Bergdorf’s and Saks. Victoria has debuted her new, and very well received dress line exclusively with Bergdorf’s instead of Saks, who premiered her denim line.

However, there might be a different culprit. One rumor is that “While the arrival of the Beckham jeans at Saks was heralded with a media fanfare it did not translate into sales because “nobody wanted to buy $300 jeans from someone who is not a trained designer.”
What do you think about celebrity designers? Talent or just a label on an overpriced garment?

I think Victoria is a clever girl and she definitely is doing great things with her dress line. I love her dresses. Victoria didn’t go with Saks because she only makes a small batch of dresses. Last time she did 450 I think and this time she did 800. Bergdorf Goodman is only one store so of course they can hold of her dresses. All 800 of them.
How beautiful her dresses are!
It seems to me celebrities like Victoria could start out with a clothing line at a mid-range price, and have an exclusive line.
If I am going to buy a $300 pair of jeans, it better be from a well known designer. Sorry, dVb
I gotta say, I love DVB dresses but not at those prices. I mean her shift dresses cost more than CK, Valentino, Versace and other high end brands. Where does she get off selling her starting line $1500 onwards. Are you kidding me?
