David Jones today announced the signing of youth-oriented menswear fashion brand industrie – which has defected from rival Myer – as a key plank in its new strategy to recruit younger department store goers.

The coup follows the signing by David Jones of denim brand Ksubi in October last year, adding to a burgeoning roster of young-minded labels including White Suede, Sass & Bide and Willow.

Industrie generates $85 million in annual turnover from its stand-alone stores and department stores, and has diversified into childrenswear and womenswear due to the strength of its sales.

“Industrie has been an extremely strong performing brand for us in your fast growing youth fashion category,” Ms Garnsey said.

She said the new agreement “has the potential to double industrie’s business with David Jones and to catapult it to becoming one of David Jones’ top 10 revenue generating brands.”

David Jones ambassador Miranda Kerr today posed with male model and industrie face Didier to promote the new partnership in a photographic studio in Waterloo.

Ms Kerr also stars in the new David Jones catalogue showcasing the department store’s autumn winter collections, which was shot in Italy.
