Hermes Womenswear Designer Jean Paul Gaultier
The Current/Elliot trend is not just trickling down to our favorite celebs, but possibly even to our favorite old school designers as well. Is the House of Hermès, which is well over 100 years old, trying to save their pennies and pony up on market trends, as the “It” bag heads “Out”? With a runway rounded up by Jean Paul Gaultier himself and a supermodel crew, the looks were definitely reminiscent of a Clint Eastwood film, fringe and hats included.
It’s not a typical Boyfriend jean…it is certainly a cleaner look than the creased, sometimes torn and faded moments that we’ve seen as of late—the cuff wider, the leg slimmer too. Calling their inspiration more “equestrian” and “desert” than male, the explanation is appropriate, given the Paris label’s humble beginnings as a saddle maker.
The line received lots of laud. I think when you’ve got Stephanie Seymour and Naomi Campbell on the runway, there is no way reviews could be poor. Although the collection was gorgeous and iconic—JPG is a genius, no doubt—I’m just not sure that I’m giving our designers all too many points for originality lately. I mean, didn’t Marc Jacobs basically knock out those exact high-waister’s for Louis Vuitton too? Not saying who was the first…but you know…

Hermes 2009 Spring RTW Denim Looks
Disney star Zac Efron was snapped at Robek Juice in LA wearing his Diesel Thanaz 8LP jeans. These are a nice change from his 8DK and 73J washes. I wonder if he wears any other Diesel cuts though? As for his shirt/jacket, I can’t say i like it too much. I normally love his style but I can’t get round this one.

Viridis Luxe had some really rad denim contributions for Los Angeles Fashion Week. Some were No-No’s and some were fabulous. The continuation and theme seemed to be simply cuffed jeans- regardless of the level of distressing. The collection has some very apparent peaks and valleys. Overall, I’m impressed with denim and I wonder how it compares price wise to Alexander Wang.
Actress/Model Denise Richards was spotted out shopping at the Grove in LA. The beautiful lady is wearing a pair of True Religion jeans. I was thinking her outfit is cute, it looks casual and the bag and shades tidy up the look but what is with the shoes? They just ruin the whole outfit in my opinion. Time to invest in some new shoes Denise! Other than that shes rocking the TRs!

I don’t know where I’ve been on this one, but I just found out Vanessa Hudgens is partnered with Ecko Red, which explains why she was caught by the paparazzi on set of the new commercial she is filming for the brand. Perhaps I didn’t know of her connection with Ecko since she’s been the Diesel jeans and J Brand jeans postergirl lately! I’ve never seen her in Ecko besides in these shots.
Is Ecko Red or Marc Ecko hot where you live? I’ll admit that I’ve never paid much attention to either until a Marc Ecko store popped up in my local mall. Both lines are a little too flashy and ghetto fabulous for my taste - what do you think?
