Are the days of expensive designer jeans numbered?
We’ve blogged in the past about how Posh’s dVb line has been relegated to fashion’s basement. The now not-so-posh have been marked down to $30-$60 at discount retailers. Many of our readers agree, the dVb line’s quality is not as good as other high end denim brands out there, and the materials feel cheap.
Will the economic crisis in the U.S. have an impact on these top-dollar goods such as designer jeans? I don’t think the days of QUALITY designer denim are numbered, only cheaply produced denim, like Victoria’s dVb brand need worry. Basing all of this on dVb’s faltering success would be very presumptuous to assume all designer denim will end up the same way. Quality will always demand and usually receive what it’s worth. If it feels cheap, it probably is and that’s what I think the problem is here.
Will the U.S. lingering recession take down the prices on all premium designer denim lines or is it really a quality issue? Have you cut your spending on premium denim due to the economy being depressed?

Just because you’re a slightly older celeb doesn’t mean you have to wear mom jeans! Here are actresses Melanie Griffith and Sharon Stone shopping on Robertson Blvd recently, both sporting their designer jeans. Melanie is wearing a pair of Rock and Republic’s and Sharon is sporting a pair of Blue2′s. I find it hilarious that Melanie is trying on dresses over her clothes… Hey Mel, ever hear of these newfangled things called fitting rooms?!

Together they chose the signature Laurel Canyon jean for the exclusive – a classic, 5 pocket boot cut that has been Paige’s most notable piece to date.
Updated in two new 70’s inspired washes, the Laurel Canyon takes on a more weathered, vintage shape adored by Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, Giselle Bundchen and more. Beachwood Canyon (shown below), named after one of Hollywood’s most star studded neighborhoods is a light, ultra soft denim with knee gracing rips and tears. The darker, more indigo wash, Nichols Canyon, offers the same destruction with a dressier edge.

Ooooh can’t wait for these – someone pick me up a pair at a Ron Herman in So. Co.! I love that the wash is lighter, but not too light, just broken in – and the fit looks amazing! Do you love them?

Singer and actress Alanis Morissette was recently featured in the May 2008 Venice Magazine wearing a pair of J Brand Lovestory jeans. Love her! She’s got such a natural beauty about her.
On another note, I tried on the Lovestory in the Ink wash today at Saks Fifth Avenue. Oh My GOSH! These things are AMAZING. If you haven’t tried on a pair yet, you must – seriously! They are super slimming and make even my flat booty look good! There are no fancy logos on the back pockets, they just fit like a dream. My only complaint – pleeeeease J Brand, come out with these in shorter inseams! I can’t wait a whole week for Saks to hem mine, I want instant gratification! *Sigh*
