Interview with Victoria Beckham, creator of DVB denim

Check out this interview from the Boston Globe with Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, designer of DVB denim and Rock & Republic’s Victoria Beckham line of crown denim.

Victoria Beckham, perhaps better known as Posh Spice or Mrs. David Beckham, is just a few hours from show time. It’s the last night of the Spice Girls’ two-week concert run in London, part of a reunion tour that arrives in Boston next week. But Beckham, who purloined Vogue editrix Anna Wintour’s trademark bob, oversize sunglasses, and pout for her own fashionable gain, is more interested in chatting about shopping than “Spice World.”

“We help each other out when it comes to clothes,” she says of her soccer-star husband, who last year landed a $250 million contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy. “And we shop for each other as well. Just don’t tell his teammates.”

A staple at fashion shows in New York and Paris, Beckham appeared in ads for designer Marc Jacobs, graced the cover of this month’s Elle, has written a book of fashion tips (”That Extra Half an Inch”), and is designing her own dVb line of denim and sunglasses. Beckham will greet fans at Saks Fifth Avenue on Wednesday at noon and chat about her jeans. We dialed her up in advance to query her about Katie Holmes and past Spice Girls fashion atrocities.

When I see you in paparazzi pictures, it seems like you’re usually wearing Dior or Cavalli instead of jeans, so I’m wondering where the interest in denim comes from?

Posh:  To be honest with you, I’ve been photographed in lots in jeans. I love fashion, from jeans to couture to nice day dresses. I couldn’t find a good pair of jeans. I was very specific about what I wanted, and I couldn’t find it, which is why I decided to go into making jeans.

Gustto handbags now makes jeans!

We’ve always loved Gustto handbags. With rivet details and super soft leather, we loved these unstructured bags. Now it seems they are expanding to include a denim line this spring. Revolve and ShopKitson are expected to carry these new jeans and they will retail for $280-$360. We can’t wait to see more!

Joe’s Jeans has jumped on the handbag bandwagon!

Joe’s Jeans seems to be the latest denim company jumping on the “let’s make handbags too” bandwagon.  However, their handbags seem to be in a much better price range ($300-$450) than competitors like Rock & Republic, who’s handbags are priced at $800+.  We like the rugged exteriors of these!  You can find these bags and more at JoesEShop.com

Interview with Jason Trotzuk, designer of Fidelity Denim

Today we are featuring an interview the DenimBlog.com had with Fidelity Denim designer, Jason Trotzuk.  Fidelity is a big premium denim brand in Canada, and its begun making its way to the U.S. for some time now, with many celebrity fans.

DenimBlog: So tell us about Fidelity.  Why should people buy a pair of Fidelity’s if they are die hard fans of brands like Rock & Republic or 7 for All Mankind?

Jason: Fidelity Women’s is a luxury jeans brand for the contemporary modern women. Focusing on the 3 F’s… fabric, fit and finish.  Fidelity used the best fabrics, impeccable fits and amazing finishes. We are devoted to making the best jeans on the market.  Fidelity Men’s…”the Modern day original”… is based of the 3 F principal, but is for the “Original Blue Jeans” man. A classic jean for true denim wearers…. Vintage washes and details, nothing flashy…NO decked out pockets or crazy stitch detail, just great fitting premium jeans.  Why should people buy a pair of Fidelity’s over the other brands??? So much of the high-end denim market has been based on hype…all fluff and no foundation. Fidelity’s focus is always on the customer and making an incredible and timeless pair of jeans…end of story…we focus on doing things right where others wrong… details on fabric fit and finish where others fall short…

DB: We hear Fidelity is known for its fit.  Give us some pointers on picking the right type of jeans for your body type, which styles of Fidelity you recommend our readers try?

Jason: All of our styles/fits are created with purpose…whether everyday jeans or fashion jeans, we have many different fits but here are a few of the essentials:
HYACINTH - 5 Pocket Trouser jeans…wide leg mid rise…fits all body types…always dressy!!!
BELLADONNA- Mid Rise Boot Cut…Most versatile cut for a woman…The Belladonna medium rise is the perfect rise @ 8.5”, the thigh is slimming and the boot cut open allows for both dressy or casual occasions.
THE LUX - flare,  Do some damage with this cut…clean tailor details on a 5-pocket  jean with a long lean flare.

Again, there are many bodies too numerous to mention, but our specialty is our fit… many customers swear by our “uplifting” qualities and Fidelity has been coined as the “butt bra jean”. Continue reading ‘Interview with Jason Trotzuk, designer of Fidelity Denim’
